Reliable power for homes beyond the grid's reach.
Large parts of rural Bangladesh, including char lands, haor basins, and hard-to-reach coastal villages, remain outside the practical reach of grid extension from REB and other distribution utilities. For these households, a standalone solar home system provides lighting, mobile charging, and small appliance power without waiting for a grid connection that may be years away.
CZ Engineering has drawn on the design principles behind IDCOL's long-running solar home system programme, which financed and refinanced millions of small systems across Bangladesh over the past two decades through partner organisations. We size systems around a household's essential needs — a few LED lights, mobile and lantern charging, a small television or fan — and use durable, weather-resistant components suited to monsoon conditions and salinity in coastal zones.
Because these households are often first-time electricity users, we place strong emphasis on after-sales service: local technician training, spare battery availability, and simple maintenance guidance delivered in Bangla, so that systems keep running long after installation day.
We identify which appliances and lighting points the household needs to power and confirm there is no practical grid access nearby.
Panel, battery, and charge controller are selected for the household's load profile and local climate conditions.
A trained technician installs the system and walks the household through basic operation and care.
Local service partners provide battery replacement and troubleshooting support throughout the system's working life.
Many households access these systems through microfinance partner organisations working within IDCOL-style refinancing frameworks, paying in small instalments rather than a single upfront sum.
